The Centre for Character Education (CCE) was established in August 1996. CCE is currently a unit within the Temasek Humanities and Social Sciences School established in 2007.
CCE develops the curriculum for character education -- Applied Principles for Effective Living (APEL) and provides training and consultancy in character education.
Vision of CCE
To send into society cohort after cohort of responsible, morally upright graduates who will make a positive difference in the workplace and in families; men and women who will in turn be a positive influence on others.
Mission of CCE
To instil in the students of Temasek Polytechnic universally-accepted traits of good character and to provide them training in making moral choices.
Goals of CCE
- To develop and provide programmes that educate students on good character and the making of moral decisions.
- To train staff to facilitate character education programmes.
- To become a resource centre for materials on character education.
- To develop and monitor performance indicators that measure the impact of TP's character education programmes.
- To make available training related to character education to other institutions and organisations.
- To undertake research into the process of character development and education; and to share information with similar centres around the world.
